Carbon Footprint
A carbon footprint is the total amount of Greenhouse gasses that are generated by our actions on an individual, company, country or global level. It is expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent.
Today many companies, including Brevo, are seeking to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in a way to sustainable growth. In order to take action to reduce these emissions, we need first to understand and measure where they’re sourced from.
Since the beginning of 2020, Brevo has launched a Carbon footprint assessment, reporting on a yearly basis on all three scopes of its emissions.
The three scopes of a carbon footprint are a way of categorizing the different kinds of emissions a company creates in its own operations but also in its wider ‘value chain’ (including the suppliers and customers).
Our goals for assessing our carbon footprint
- Calculate our carbon footprint, as completely and precisely as possible
- Compare the emissions of email to other online communication channels as well as offline channels
- Identify concrete areas for improvement and define a strategy
The result of the project: a comprehensive analysis of our carbon footprint and its reduction plan for the years to come.
In our roadmap, we have identified four levers:
- Educate our employees to make environmentally responsible decisions in their choice of service providers, commutes to work, their tech usage, etc.
- Develop our CSR purchasing policy and create guidelines for selecting responsible service providers.
- Develop features to reduce our platform’s carbon impact from within like sustainable email templates, an expiration date for emails, tips to reduce your campaigns’ emissions, etc.
- Identify and support environmental initiatives that align with our values.
We believe that businesses all over the world have a responsibility and an important role to play to combat climate change. At Brevo we are committed to doing our part.
